Wyalusing State Park

My original plan was to stop at a State Park in Illinois so we wouldn’t have to drive too far. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any state parks in Illinois in the right direction with vacancies. So I jumped to the next day’s plan, which was to hit Wyalusing State Park in Wisconsin. A 483 mile drive. Not bad, but I’m been trying to break up the drives in smaller chunks.

So we drive through the mountainy farmlands in Indiana, through the rolling farmland and wind turbines in Illinois, through the hilly farm land in Iowa, to the even hillier and vivid green farmland in Wisconsin. From today’s drive, someone might think that all we do in the US is farm.

We drive across the Mississippi river twice today! First, right before entering Iowa and next as we were leaving Dubuque. All the rivers I was today were nice and full, compared to the lakes and rivers in NC.

I’m winging this whole trip, which is one of the reasons I couldn’t find a camp site in Illinois. I got bit again while checking the campgrounds and Badlands National Park. Most of the sites are already reserved. I’ll have to try the KOA near Badlands or figure out something else…
