Crater Lake National Park, OR

It was nice to be back at Crater Lake National Park today. When I first visited Crater Lake back in 2010, I considered it my first real vacation as an adult because I wasn’t staying with family or friends. In 2010, I had 4 full days to explore the park, participated in the Crater Lake Rim Run (a half-marathon that went partway 12.1 miles around the rim), and caught up with a friend and her husband who I used to work with at Duke.

Today, I tried to take my time hitting the overlooks that are open. Part of the East Rim Road is closed this year. I took some pictures and gave Sam walk breaks from driving. A couple people stopped to say hello to Sam. He always like getting attention from new people.

Here are some of the pictures I took today:

Wizard Island
There are some big, old trees around the rim
Llao Rock???
Dutton Cliff and Phantom Ship

I think I’ll run some errands on Wednesday (it might be rainy tomorrow) and then go back to Crater Lake on Thursday.
