I consider today a chores day. We left Badlands National Park and drove to Rapid City to stock up on groceries. After that, we drove to Wind Cave National Park and located our campsite. Finally, I cooked a couple chicken breasts as one of my proteins for the week.
Wind Cave National Park is a pretty small national park, but it was only about an hour away from Badlands (so why not). Even though it’s a small park, I did see more bison driving in than I saw in the Badlands! It also has burrowing owls. Don’t know if I’ll be lucky enough to see any of them.
I’m mostly staying here because I can camp for $12.00 a night with my senior discount. There are three scenic highways in the Black Hills area that sound interesting: Iron Mountain Road, Needles Highway & Wildlife Loop State Scenic Byway. I was planning on checking those out on Saturday. But, again, with my senior discount; I can go on a cave tour for half price, so maybe I’ll do that tomorrow and do the scenic highways on Sunday. So many tough decisions…
