On Wednesday, we went back to Sisters Rock to explore the beaches to the north and south of Sisters Rock. The fog was very think on Wednesday morning, but we walked the beaches anyway. I tried again on Thursday morning, but the fog was even thicker.
We explored the north beach first. About half-way down the beach, there are some huge rock formations that form a little protected bay. Very cool.
There are a few holes/arches in the rocks that are also interesting.
I was concentrating on photographing these funny Dr. Seuss plants (baby kelp?), when a large wave came in and drenched my shoes and socks. Not the end of the world, but it was cold enough that I was in my fleece jacket and wearing glove when I wasn’t taking pictures. (It’s still weird wearing a fleece jacket on the beach in the middle of summer.)
Further down the north beach, there are lots of other rock formations that are great to explore and photograph.
The south beach was surprisingly different from the north beach. The south beach has lots of pebble, while the north beach was just sand. The south beach is shorter, but it has lots of interesting rock formations.
This area is definitely my favorite on the Oregon coast so far. Tomorrow, we are heading up to Bandon for 4 nights.
