Just a quick update… My reservations in the Tetons start on Tuesday, so this morning we drove from Leslie Gulch, OR to Silver Creek Campground in Idaho (about half way to the Tetons).
I was sad to leave Leslie Gulch, but glad to get the 22 miles of gravel road behind me. The 4 or 5 mile section in Leslie Gulch is pretty rough. I’m not sure if that is because the soil in the gulch is clay based, but that’s my guess. It doesn’t seem to be as forgiving as plain old dirt and gravel…
There are three campsites at Silver Creek and you can stay for free for up to 14 days! And the campsites aren’t shabby either!

The only other amenity are two pit toilets and the one at this location is well maintained (did not check the one at the north end of the campground).
I assume this is Silver Creek running right by my campsite.

It’s pretty windy at Silver Creek right now, so I have all the doors and windows on the van open. I think I have most of the flies of the apocalypse blown out of the van. If not, I’ve got brand new fly strips with their name written all over it!
