Sunset Campground filled up on Thursday afternoon, so I had to find a new campground for Friday and Saturday night. We ended up staying in Farewell Bend Campground in the Umpqua National Forest. It’s a nice campground with just drinking water and flush toilets, but it was nice camping under the large pine (I think they are Douglas Firs). The only downside of the campground was no cell service, so no Internet access.
The campsite was also nice because the Rogue River flowed right by my campsite and there weren’t many mosquitoes!
On Saturday, we drove south of the campground about a half mile to check out a natural bridge that is on a more active section of the Rogue River.
The natural bridge was underwhelming, just water flowing into the rocks and emerging 200 ft later.
What I did like was the cave that the flowing water of the Rogue River created.
Sunday and Monday night we will be camping in Mazama Campground at Crater Lake. This is the first time I’ve actually camped inside Crater Lake National Park!
