Winter is coming

We’ve spent 7 full days in Grand Teton National Park. The mornings have been chilly, but not horrible. The coldest morning temperature inside the van was 38 degrees. And the campgrounds that are still open in the Tetons are closing for the season on Saturday.

I’ve already been thinking about wintering on the long term BLM sites in Arizona and I guess it’s time to give it a try. There are several Long Term Visitor Areas (LTVA) in Arizona and California. The $180.00 season pass is good at all of the LTVAs, so you can move around if you like. There is also a $40.00 pass that is good for 2 weeks at one location. I’ll probably try the 2 week pass as a test.

So, tomorrow morning we will start making our way to Quartzsite, AZ to join some of the other RV snowbirds.

Our itinerary is:

Wednesday – Bridger Bay Campground in Antelope Island State Park, UT
Thursday – Quail Creek State Park, UT
Friday – Red Rock Canyon Campground, NV
Saturday – Arrive in Quartzsite, AZ

For some reason, I couldn’t make a reservation at Bridger Bay Campground for Wednesday. But they have several sites available on a first-come, first-serve basis, so we should be okay on Wednesday night…
